Dear Community Members,

Good health is shaped by what happens in our everyday lives; whether a child feels supported at school, a family can put nutritious food on the table, a neighbor can find a therapist when they need one, or someone can get medical or dental care before a small problem becomes a crisis.

That is where Sequoia Healthcare District comes in. Over the past year, we invested more than $20 million in local health and wellness, reaching more than 136,000 residents across our community. But the story of that investment is about much more than dollars. It is about what those resources made possible.

They helped put 26,580 hot meals into the hands of community members through the City of San Carlos Curbside Lunch program. They helped One Life Counseling provide mental health support to 1,200 residents. They strengthened programs that give young people safe places to learn, move, connect, and build healthy habits. They supported families facing food insecurity and helped expand access to dental care through a new clinic in Redwood City.

Furthermore, throughout our local schools, our Healthy Schools Initiative continued to bring health and wellness resources directly to students, meeting children and families where they spend much of their day.

Behind each of these numbers is a person; a student, parent, older adult, neighbor, or family whose health and well-being are connected to the strength of the community around them. Moreover, behind each program is a local organization working every day to meet those needs.

Our role as a public healthcare district is to make sure taxpayer dollars are invested thoughtfully where they can make a meaningful difference. As community needs evolve, so must we. Looking ahead, we are sharpening our focus on expanding access to essential healthcare, strengthening collaboration among our partners, and ensuring that our investments produce measurable and lasting benefits for the people we serve.

We are grateful to the many organizations, schools, healthcare providers, community leaders, and residents who make this work possible. Together, we are building a healthier and more resilient community.

I invite you to explore our 2026 impact and learn more about the people and partnerships behind this work by visiting the tabs listed at the top and on the side of the page.

In good health,

Pamela Kurtzman, CEO
