SHD Grants Program

SHD Board approved the Community Grants Committee recommendations for grants totaling $4,146,000 on June 7, 2023. The committee recommended funding 60 grants of which 9 are new grants.

The SHD Grants program provides funding to local community and school-based programs that promote our mission to enhance the lives and health of District residents. The program is organized into 2 main funding categories: community-based and school-based.

Caring Community Grants

Each year, SHD provides grants through our competitive Caring Community Grants program, ranging from $10,000 to $200,000 to local non-profits that offer health services to District residents.

HSI Grants

The Healthy Schools Initiative provides one year competitive grants to community-based organizations to support health programs in schools.
