Explore community colleges and adult schools, classes and trainings, resources to prepare for college, and services to assist with learning differences and special needs. All services are personally recommended by the Sequoia Healthcare District for District residents, and most resources are free and low-cost. To get started, choose a category below.

Tutoring & College Prep 

Upward Scholars

Financial assistance, academic support, and career development for low income adults and immigrants. 

AJ Tutoring

AJ Tutoring offers academic tutoring for multiple subjects as well as college test prep tutoring for exams including the SAT, ACT, and PSAT. 

C2 Education

C2 Education’s tutors support students through a wide range of programs including subject tutoring, AP course support, preparation for the SAT and ACT, and college admissions counseling.

Kaplan

Kaplan offers test preparation resources, classes (online and in-person), and tutoring for High School & College Entrance Exams, Graduate Admissions Exams, and Professional and Licensing Exams.

College Board

College Board allows you to prepare for and sign up to take a variety of college pre-requisite exams including the SAT, Subject Tests, PSAT’s, and AP’s.

Community College & Adult Schools 

Foothill College

Foothill College offers 77 Associate degrees, 97 certificates, and 1 Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. 

Cañada College

For 50 years, Cañada College has provided enriching and life-changing educational opportunities for the residents of San Mateo County.

JobTrain

JobTrain provides High School/GED equivalency testing, free job placement assistance, and free career training and workshops for adults and youth in several disciplines.

Sequoia District Adult School

Provides English as a Second Language classes, classes needed to earn a High School Diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma, GED certificate, bilingual computer classes, and business classes. 

NOVA Job Center

Assistance and skill development to enter or re-enter the Silicon Valley worksforce.

Classes & Trainings 

Free Disaster Preparedness Classes, Redwood City Fire Dept

This FREE one-to-two hour class, taught by Redwood City Fire Department, covers the basics of what to do before, during, and after a major emergency.

Emergency Preparedness Classes, Redwood City Fire Department

FREE class that covers the basics of what to do before, during, and after a major emergency.

Health Connected

Health Connected provides sexual education programs, curriculum, teacher trainings, and online information for youth, parents, and teachers. 

St. Francis Center, Redwood City

St. Francis Center provides several community services including a food pantry, immigration counseling, shower and laundry services, community gardens, low-income housing units, ESL and GED programs, a small school for kids, a clothing closet, and a holiday toy program. 

JobTrain

JobTrain provides High School/GED equivalency testing, free job placement assistance, and free career training and workshops for adults and youth in several disciplines.

Computer Classes at Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center

Learn computer skills and keep up with the latest hardware and software with the Fair Oaks computer classes.

Bilingual Computer Classes, Sequoia District Adult School

The Sequoia District Adult School offers bilingual computer classes. Learn to navigate the internet, create and use an email account, and how to use Microsoft Office programs.

Menlo Church Financial Coaching and Study

Small group short-course on managing money and personal budget coaching for those in debt or struggling financially

Financial Empowerment Program, Peninsula Family Service

Peninsula Family Service provides financial workshops, asset and credit-building tools, and alternatives to predatory lenders. 

Free CPR Classes, Sequoia Healthcare District

Sequoia Healthcare District provides free 90-minute CPR courses, using research-proven practice-while-watching techniques to provide students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

Free Infant CPR Classes, Sequoia Healthcare District

Sequoia Healthcare District provides free 90-120 minute Infant CPR courses. This class is ideal for new and expecting parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save an infant’s life.

English as a Second Language Classes at Sequoia District Adult School

The Sequoia District Adult School proives English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at beginner and intermediate levels.

Morrissey-Compton Educational Center

Autism Speaks Resource Guide

Autism Speaks provides a free, online comprehensive resource guide to all things regarding autism including advocacy resources, education, employment, evaluation and diagnosis, housing, recreation, and more.

Children’s Health Council

Provides top-rated education, mental health services, and clinical evaluations for children, teens, and young adults with learning differences, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression.

Wings Learning Center

Non-profit organization that supports educational and therapeutic needs of students with autism and similar developmental learning challenges.
